Leadership, Legacy, and the Story of Topeka
with Marsha Sheahan
Tuesday, April 14 | Townsite 16
This April, SME Topeka welcomes Marsha Sheahan — a cornerstone of Topeka’s leadership community and a gifted storyteller of our city’s triumphs and turning points.
Across more than 35 years with the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Marsha served as Vice President of Public Relations, guiding marketing, publications, major events, and leadership initiatives that shaped a generation of civic and business leaders.
Marsha is best known for founding and directing Leadership Greater Topeka (LGT), launching the program in 1984 and mentoring cohorts for decades. Her influence is so enduring that LGT now presents the Marsha Sheahan Legacy Award to honor leaders whose service reflects her standard of grace, wisdom, and dedication.
She also created a celebrated “Topeka Timeline” — a living, accessible history that traces pivotal moments in our community and why they matter today. Expect an engaging tour through the people, ideas, and decisions that helped make Topeka what it is, and what it can become next.
In 2023, Marsha was inducted into the Topeka Business Hall of Fame, underscoring her lasting impact on commerce and community in our region.
If you haven’t heard Marsha in a while, this is your night. Come ready to be inspired, challenged, and encouraged by a leader who has not only chronicled Topeka’s story — she helped write it.
